NOTES
The foam patterns for the hip plates/pauldrons/headdress should fit any size. The legs/arm patterns were patterned based on my own measurements (size XS/UK 6) and may need to be resized. These can be altered to fit your own size (there are many videos on YouTube for how to scale sewing patterns) or can hopefully act as a visual guide if you wish to draft your own patterns from scratch.

Costume Details
Where to begin with this costume?! When Genshin Impact announced this boss version of Raiden Shogun, I knew that this was going to be my next big armour project. This costume has a crazy amount of detail and I kept noticing more and more of them every day that I worked on it!
Since this build is very larger than life, I spent a long time scaling the model and comparing it to my own body to work out the correct dimensions of armour that I’d need. Unfortunately I am physically incapable of floating, but I tried my best to achieve that godly aura!
The large majority of the armour was made from EVA foam which I wrapped in stretch PVC spandex using contact adhesive. This method is very tricky, but is a great alternative to painting and achieves a shiny, plastic-like finish. It also includes heat transfer vinyl details and numerous resin-printed details which I 3D modelled in Fusion360. I’d highly recommend checking out my try-on video (linked above) which shows how I get in and out of the costume (hint: it’s a lot of layers!).
I debuted this costume at MCM London in May 2022, where I was also awarded 3rd placed in the Crown Champsionships of Cosplay UK qualifiers!
